Skunked!

This is Katie's Mom again. She gave me permission to blog for her because they still don't have the Internet at home. Hopefully soon, very soon.

Labor Day weekend Katie and Aaron had a houseful of our family when late Saturday night their dog Wesson made contact with a skunk in the dirt field outside their house. He came in the house before anyone realized what had happened and it was as if we'd all been sprayed. There is no way to describe the odor that hung in the air and clung to everything. We'd all heard of the tomato juice bath theory for taking care of poor Wesson (Caleb said he'd even seen it proven on Mythbusters) but there was only one can of tomato soup in the house and all the stores were closed. Luckily Kent had his Blackberry and was able to Google what to do. He came up with a recipe of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and dish soap. Katie and Aaron set to work to scrub Wesson in the solution in the bath tub. Katie got close to the dog though and her pregnant stomach protested and she ran to throw up. Aaron trudged on and soon Wesson was tolerable and with all the windows open and lots of candles lit and Febreze sprayed everywhere our eyes and throats quit burning. Then we hoped we wouldn't all stink for church the next day. Katie and Aaron were speaking! We all showered and wore clean clothes and I don't think I saw anyone wrinkle their nose!

Katie invented the swimming suit face mask and was so thrilled I took her picture.

I took this picture on an angle.
Maybe that's why blogger flipped it?

Now, Nanette and I decide that we are going to bring a Rawlins' emergency kit with us and it goes as follows (now don't take this more seriously then you know me):
1. Lysol Spray
2. Cologne/Perfume
3. Clothes pins
4. Weight Watchers Drinks (with all the cookies we ate)
5. Extra playing cards for Ethan
6. Sticky notes to help us not forget our clothes.
